Clavering street residents in the paisley west end where shocked and despaired at the length of time it took for one ambulance to arrive where an elderly gentleman had fallen and cracked open his skull.
At 12.27pm after hearing the commotion outside my front window, I saw members of the public giving aid to the old man sitting on the wet ground as the rain fell.
One European lady was on her phone calling for an ambulance and I noticed shed tried a few times as they waited.. As a local resident held and comforted the old man asking him not to stand. I myself the past had a bad head knock and stood up only for the world to spin out of control due to a minor concussion. So she did the right thing…
As everyone stood wondering where the hell was the ambulance another local taking out his dog was shocked by the sight and the lack of an ambulance, more so since the RAH is just up the road. He himself tried to dial 101, but was disgusted at having to be redirected so gave up and called 999 instead.
He then told me, the reason it was taking so long for the emergency services to respond to the call was due to a large number of people calling in to say they too had fallen.
It wasn’t till12.57pm when an ambulance finally arrived down clavering street west, by which time the old fella had spent all that time sitting in a freezing wet raining road..
There where more than a few curse words used and the old fell himself thanked the local dog owner after he hanged up saying, this is #### disgusting and people want to come to Scotland!
