Police Scotland are appealing for information following a housebreaking in Bridge of Weir, which was reported to officers on Sunday.

The householders returned from holiday to find their home had been broken into in the Hazelwood Road area.

Those responsible had forced their way in and stole several items of jewellery, including two Breitling watches. Officers said the pieces are “very precious” to the owners and “hold great sentimental value”.

Officers are in the process of checking any relevant CCTV for any information on those responsible.

Detective Constable John Sharkey said: “I am asking people in the local area to think back and consider if they noticed anything suspicious or out of the ordinary.

“Did you see anyone who wasn’t familiar to the area, did you notice any cars or people hanging around for periods of time. Any small piece of information could prove vital to our investigation so please do contact us.

He added: “I would also ask anyone with recording equipment to check the footage as there could be vital images which would assist our enquiries.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 2308 of Monday, 23 October, 2023. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where you can give your information anonymously.”
