People who live in Johnstone can have their say on how £5,000 will be spent at the Johnstone Christmas Lights Switch-On in December as part of new pilot project, based on the council’s #YouDecide campaign.

Last month, Renfrewshire Council asked Johnstone residents for their views on the Johnstone Christmas Lights Switch-On, and over 200 people submitted their ideas on what they’d like included in this year’s programme.

The Council’s events team have created a shortlist of activities based on those suggestions and residents can now vote on what extra activities they’d like to see as part of the event, due to take place in the town’s Houstoun Square on Saturday 2 December.

There are seven options to choose from:

  • Free family activities at Station Seven
  • Local established music acts to play on the bandstand
  • Street entertainers
  • Giant snow globe
  • Silent Disco
  • Festive face painting, glitter tattoos and balloon modelling
  • Additional festive décor in Houstoun Square

Residents can vote for multiple options, up to a total spend of £5,000. The results, plus further programme details for the event, will be announced in November.

Visit www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/Johnstone-Xmas-Lights for more information and to make your choices.

The survey will close on Wednesday 1st November 2023.
