Rail services across Renfrewshire and Ayrshire were disrupted this morning due to a signalling fault in the Lochwinnoch area.
Network Rail Scotland confirmed the fault shortly after 6.15am, affecting services between Glasgow Central and Ayr, Largs and Ardrossan in both directions. Engineers were sent to the site to carry out repairs, with trains delayed while passing through the Lochwinnoch area.
Temporary repairs were completed early this morning to allow services to restart, however Network Rail said delays are continuing as trains move cautiously through the affected section of track.
A separate signalling fault was also reported at Crookston on the Glasgow Central to Paisley Canal line. As a result, services on that route are only running between Glasgow Central and Corkerhill, with trains unable to reach Paisley Canal.
An additional response team was sent to Crookston to carry out a temporary repair aimed at restoring services to and from Paisley Canal as soon as possible.
Passengers are being advised to check the latest travel updates before setting off, as disruption is expected to continue this morning while repair work is completed.
