Journalists Bill Hicks and Jill Scott will share stories from their careers at the Sunday Post during a public talk in Paisley next month.

The pair will speak at a meeting hosted by Paisley and District u3a on Thursday 7th May 2026 at 2pm.

The event will take place at the Salvation Army Hall on Mill Street and is free to attend.

Organisers say the talk will include both light-hearted and more serious stories from the speakers’ time working on the Sunday Post.

Hicks and Scott said: “We’ve spoken at a number of u3a events over the years now on the subject of our Sunday Post careers and our published book on Glasgow’s Grand Central Hotel.

“We’ve enjoyed every one of them and have always been met with a kind and warm reception. We’re sure our visit to Paisley will mirror our previous experiences and we are looking forward to entertaining everyone with some Sunday Post stories on May 7.”

u3a chair Kathy O’Donnell said: “Our monthly talk is wittily entitled ‘When Sundays brought the Post’. I expect several of our members grew up with this being their family newspaper.

“It seems to connect with its readership in a way which other press titles envy. I am sure we will enjoy hearing this behind the scenes guide to how stories made the front page, or even got into print, and about the investigative journalism involved in gathering the facts.”

Refreshments will be available from 1.30pm before the talk begins.

Paisley and District u3a is a volunteer-run group offering learning and social activities for people who are no longer in full-time work.

More information about joining or activities is available on the group’s website, visit: www.u3a.org.uk.
