Two community organisations in Johnstone and Linwood have received a £750 boost each from a local funeral directors’ funding scheme.
John Roach Funeral Directors has awarded the grants to Thorn Athletic Community Trust and ASN Collective through its Community Fund.
Thorn Athletic will use the funding for its ‘Coaches of the Future’ programme, helping young people gain Scottish Football Association qualifications while building skills and confidence.
ASN Collective will use its £750 to buy specialist garden furniture for Milldale Day Opportunities at the On-yx in Linwood, supporting carers of young adults with disabilities and improving wellbeing and social interaction.
The cheques were presented by Funeral Manager Pauline Ower and Funeral Arranger Natasha Craig.
Pauline Ower said: “We are delighted to support these projects in the Johnstone area. Both organisations are making a real difference to people’s lives and providing meaningful support in the community.”
Natasha Craig added: “The Community Fund allows us to highlight the positive work happening locally. We’re looking forward to seeing these projects develop.”
The fund launched in February and supports non-profit projects within three miles of the firm’s Houstoun Square base, focusing on health, education, employment and tackling poverty.
A second round of funding, worth £1,500, will open for applications on Sunday 29th June.
