A site manager working on a major housing development in East Renfrewshire has been recognised as one of Scotland’s best at the prestigious Pride in the Job Awards 2025.
David McClure of Taylor Wimpey West Scotland took the title in the Large Builder category for his work at the Castle Gate Maidenhill development in Newton Mearns.
The awards – organised by the National House Building Council (NHBC), the UK’s leading new home warranty and insurance provider – were presented at a ceremony at the Hilton Glasgow on Friday 26th September.
Other category winners on the night were:
- Small Builder: Duncan Moon of Guild Homes (Tayside) Ltd, for Dalhousie Park in Edzell, Angus
- Medium Builder: Alan Wharton of Places for People Developments Ltd, for Black Isle View in Inverness
- Multi-Storey: Gavin McCann of CALA Homes East, for Queensferry Heights in South Queensferry
As well as their category wins, all four received a Pride in the Job Seal of Excellence.
A further 10 site managers across Scotland also picked up Seal of Excellence Awards, including Taylor Wimpey West Scotland’s David Cunningham (Glasgow) and Stuart Gillespie (Hamilton).
Now in its 45th year, the competition is widely regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of the house-building industry. Winners are judged across six areas including attention to detail, leadership, technical expertise, and health and safety.
Stefan Szymoszowskyj, NHBC Regional Director for Scotland, said: “Congratulations to all the winners. They have demonstrated the dedication, passion and leadership skills necessary to deliver new homes to exacting construction quality standards.”
Mr McClure and the other Scottish winners will now go forward to compete for the overall Pride in the Job Supreme Awards at a ceremony in London in January 2026.
