A group of young people from Renfrewshire were given a behind-the-scenes look at frontline policing after taking part in Police Scotland’s Work Experience Programme.
The programme, organised by the force’s Preventions and Interventions team, gave the pupils an opportunity to learn more about policing and the work carried out by specialist departments.
During the week, the group received a series of presentations and practical demonstrations showing the different elements of policing and how officers work to keep communities safe.
They heard from specialist teams including the Road Policing Unit, Air Support Unit and Public Order Unit, gaining an insight into how these departments support operational policing across Scotland.
As part of the programme, the young people also visited partners at the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service where they received fire awareness training and learned more about the role firefighters play in protecting the public.
The group also visited Create Paisley to hear about the work the organisation does to support young people living in the local community.
Police Scotland said the programme helped the pupils gain a better understanding of the many different roles within policing and the wider emergency services.
Officers also thanked the young people who took part in the initiative, as well as the organisations and partners who supported the programme.
