Residents in Renfrewshire who want their garden waste collected can now apply for a 2026/27 permit.

Renfrewshire Council is urging anyone planning to use the service to apply well in advance of collections restarting on Friday 1st May 2026.

The permit costs £52 and covers one brown bin at a property until 30th April 2027.

Households that buy a permit will be sent a new sticker to place on their brown bin so council crews know it should be emptied.

The council said extra permits and additional brown bins can also be bought if needed.

Residents are being advised to apply by Friday 10th April 2026 to make sure everything is in place before the service resumes, although applications can still be made after that date.

People who do not want to take part in the scheme can continue to use their brown bin for food waste only.

However, the council said any brown bin containing garden waste without a valid permit will not be collected until the garden waste has been removed.

Garden waste including grass cuttings and hedge trimmings can still be taken to any of Renfrewshire’s recycling centres free of charge. Residents can also use the council’s special uplift service.

Applications can be made online through Renfrewshire Council’s garden waste collection page, here: https://www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/bins-and-recycling/bin-collection/renew-or-sign-garden-waste-permit.

Anyone who cannot apply online can call 0300 300 0380 or collect an application form from Renfrewshire House on Cotton Street in Paisley, or from a OneRen library.
