A 35-year-old woman has been arrested after breaching conditions of a Paisley town centre exclusion zone.

She was detained on Thursday 16th April 2026 after being identified on CCTV and tracked by security staff working with police in the town centre. She is due to appear at court.

Renfrewshire town centre community police officers worked alongside retailers, security teams and council CCTV operators as part of the response. The woman was located using the shop radio link system, which allows businesses and police to share live updates.

In addition to breaching her bail conditions, she was also found in possession of stolen property.

A town centre exclusion zone is a condition sometimes imposed by a court as part of bail or sentencing. It bans an individual from entering a defined area, usually covering main shopping streets and nearby public spaces.

In Paisley, the exclusion zone typically covers the central retail area, including parts of High Street, Gilmour Street and surrounding streets. The measure is used to prevent further offending, particularly shoplifting or antisocial behaviour, and to protect businesses and the public.

Anyone who enters the restricted area while subject to the order is committing an offence and can be arrested.
