Renfrew Gala Day will return to Robertson Park on Sunday 7th June with a packed programme of activities, entertainment and community celebrations inspired by Scotland’s Summer of Sport.

The annual event will begin with a parade featuring around 200 community participants alongside professional performers. The procession will set off from Trinity High School at 12 noon before making its way along Renfrew High Street to Robertson Park.

Spectators can expect colourful butterfly and dragonfly stilt walkers, giant “Summer Birds” and a host of community groups taking part.

Once the parade arrives at Robertson Park, visitors will be able to enjoy a wide range of sporting and family-friendly activities throughout the afternoon.

Street Stuff will be running football activities, while Renfrew Development Trust will offer tennis sessions for those keen to try a new sport. The Scottish BMX School will also be providing BMX workshops.

Traditional gala day attractions will return, including the funfair, inflatables, community stalls and local traders. Free circus skills workshops and a sports-themed circus cabaret are also planned.

Families and groups of friends will be able to test their competitive side by taking part in a classic school sports day challenge.

Entertainment will continue throughout the afternoon across two live stages featuring local musicians and dancers. The programme has been organised by Fitzpatrick School of Music and Rachel Elliot.

Renfrew Burgh Band will perform in the sensory garden opposite the McMaster Centre at 1pm and again at 2.30pm.

Visitors looking for refreshments will be able to stop by the McMaster Centre tearoom, which will be serving cakes and a selection of hot and cold drinks.

The event is sponsored by TrustFord Glasgow.
