A Paisley catering company has secured a major contract for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games after months of planning and discussions with one of the world’s largest media organisations.
Scott McGinlay Catering has been appointed by Warner Bros. Discovery, which holds the UK live broadcast and digital media rights for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, to provide catering services for its production teams during the event.
The company revealed the news on social media, describing the achievement as a significant milestone in its journey from a small local business to working alongside a global media giant.
Owner Scott McGinlay said he initially thought the invitation from Warner Bros. Discovery was a prank when the company first got in touch.
However, after being invited to submit a quotation and provide sample menus, the Paisley-based firm entered a competitive selection process involving months of meetings, planning and logistics discussions with people from around the world.
The contract will see Scott McGinlay Catering provide breakfast, lunch and dinner for more than 150 cast and crew members across multiple venues during the two-week Games.
In total, the company expects to deliver around 450 meals each day throughout the event.
Announcing the contract award, Mr McGinlay reflected on how far the business has come over the last decade.
He said: “To think that 10 years ago I was a nervous 25-year-old taking a chance and going out on my own, and now we’re working alongside one of the biggest media companies in the world, is something I am honestly overwhelmed by.”
He also thanked Warner Bros. Discovery for the opportunity and paid tribute to his staff for helping the company reach the milestone.
The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games will take place next summer, with Warner Bros. Discovery responsible for broadcasting coverage of the event across the UK.
Mr McGinlay added: “Paisley to the Commonwealth Games 2026.”
