Pupils and staff at Langcraigs Primary School in Paisley are celebrating after receiving two national digital awards.

The school has been recognised by Digital Schools Awards Scotland with the Equitable Creative Coding (ECCo) Award and the Digital Wellbeing Award. The awards recognise its commitment to digital learning and helping children use technology safely, responsibly and confidently.

Pupils across the school are encouraged to learn independently. Digital Leaders support other pupils to develop digital skills, promote online safety and teach younger children coding.

The awards also recognised the school’s focus on pupil leadership. Children are encouraged to contribute to school decisions and help promote positive behaviour both online and in school.

Creative coding is part of learning from Primary 1 to Primary 7. Pupils develop problem-solving, creativity and critical thinking skills. They have also used digital tools to create stop-motion animation projects.

The school’s inclusive approach and partnership working with families and other organisations were also praised.

STEM projects form part of pupils’ learning, including building a portable luge ramp and a Goblin car in partnership with the Royal Navy and Glasgow Caledonian University.

Lisa Robertson, Head Teacher, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive both the Equitable Creative Coding Award and the Digital Wellbeing Award. These achievements reflect the dedication of our staff and the enthusiasm of our pupils.

“We are particularly proud of our Digital Leaders, who demonstrate outstanding leadership by supporting younger pupils, promoting positive online behaviours and helping to shape our school’s digital culture. These awards recognise the inclusive and supportive environment we have built together and our commitment to ensuring every child can thrive in an increasingly digital world.”

Sarah Colquhoun, class teacher and digital champion for the school, added: “It was great to see the validation team recognise the passion and commitment of both staff and pupils. Digital wellbeing and creative coding are embedded throughout our school, and we continually reflect on our practice while listening carefully to pupil voice.

“Achieving these awards is a fantastic recognition of the collaborative work taking place across Langcraigs Primary School.”

Councillor Emma Rodden, Renfrewshire Council’s Education Convener, said: “Being recognised for these two digital awards is fantastic. These achievements showcase the strong commitment Langcraigs has a school to equipping children with the skills they need for today’s digital world. My congratulations go to all staff, pupils and partners involved.”
