Police have made an appeal for information after thieves broke into a property in Paisley and stole jewellery and cash.

The break-in happened at a house in St Margaret’s Avenue. The property was ransacked and a four figure sum of cash and a quantity of expensive jewellery stolen.

Two men were seen absconding from the area in a dark coloured estate motor vehicle.

Inspector Harkins from the Community Policing Unit based in Paisley, said: “This is a particularly nasty crime which has left the victims feeling vulnerable in their own home, some of the stolen jewellery has sentimental value which has left the owners devastated.

“I would ask any members of the public who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area during the evening to call us on 101 or if you would prefer to remain anonymous then call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
