Detectives are investigating a housebreaking and attempted housebreaking in Renfrew.
Around 12.30 pm on Tuesday 4th July 2017, a house in Campsie Drive, Renfrew was broken into. The householders were not at home when the crime occurred. They returned to find their home ransacked and numerous personal items, mainly jewellry were stolen.
Many of the items hold sentimental value for the owners and they are extremely upset at the loss of such treasured items.
The second incident occurred around 4.50pm on Wednesday 5th July 2017 in Fairfield Drive, Renfrew. However, the thieves were unsuccessful in their attempt to gain access. Officers believe this may be due to the home alarm going off.
A black coloured Audi, possibly a Q5 or a Q7, was seen in the area along with four men, described as white, wearing dark coloured clothing, possibly tracksuits. Three of the men were wearing black coloured baseball caps and a fourth man was wearing a yellow coloured baseball cap.
Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and are still in the process of reviewing CCTV footage which has been gathered from in an around the area.
Detective Sergeant Ian Ross said: “I am appealing to people in the area for any information regarding these incidents. I am not ruling out the possibility that the incidents may be linked and may have been carried out by the same people. If anyone has any information, please do contact us. I would also urge people to be extra vigilant, if you see anything or anyone that appears a little suspicious or odd, then please contact police.”
