On Thursday, 18th October 2018, credit unions in our community and worldwide will come together to celebrate International Credit Union Day® and the role that financial cooperatives play in improving the communities they serve and the lives of their members the world over. This year’s theme, “Find Your Platinum Lining,” combines the traditional gift of platinum for 70th anniversaries, a play on the sayings “every cloud has a silver lining” and a celebration of the platinum lining differences and impact credit union and other financial cooperatives have made and continue to make for their members.
All credit unions share a common goal to offer access to affordable financial services to their members and provide even the most financially disadvantaged the tools and the opportunities to be financially self-sufficient. Making life choices and dreams a reality is the credit union difference that makes a real impact in our world.
Renfrewshire-Wide credit union (RWCU) established in 2006 and based on Paisley High Street is a ‘mutual’ organisation, this means that it is owned by its members and all the benefits are for members alone, keeping the money in Renfrewshire for the benefit of the people of Renfrewshire. RWCU provide affordable loans at fair rates of interest to meet every day needs, such as replacing a broken washing machine right through to a home extension. RWCU also provide a range of savings plans and other accounts that help members save and manage their money.
Whether you’re saving for a rainy day or looking to access ethical affordable loans then look no further than your local credit union. Being a not-for-profit organisation means it’s about what’s best for YOU, not what makes the most money.
