Police Scotland are appealing for information following a wilful fire-raising in the Shortroods area of Paisley.

The incident happened around 9.45pm on Saturday when a white Audi A4 was set alight in Merksworth Way, Paisley.

The fire was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and no one was injured.

Detective Constable Barry Gourley said: “Fortunately no one was injured but the vehicle was extensively damaged.

“A dark-coloured saloon car was seen at the time of the incident which left in the direction of Inchinnan Road and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen it or its occupants.

“In addition, anyone with dash-cam or private CCTV footage that could assist with our investigation is asked to get in touch.

“If you can help please contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3809 of Saturday, 4 March, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
