St Mirren have won the Premier Sports Cup after a dramatic final against Celtic at Hampden, bringing the trophy back to Paisley for the first time since 2013.

Stephen Robinson’s side made the perfect start when Marcus Fraser headed home inside the opening two minutes, putting immediate pressure on Celtic and setting the tone for the final.

St Mirren continued to play with confidence and purpose in the early stages, creating chances and forcing Celtic onto the back foot. Dan Nlundulu led the line with energy and physicality, unsettling the defence and going close to extending the lead during a dominant opening spell.

Celtic gradually found their way back into the game and drew level before the break when Reo Hatate finished at the back post following a cross from Kieran Tierney. Shamal George had earlier produced a fine save to deny Kelechi Iheanacho, but the equaliser arrived just before half-time.

Stephen Robinson’s side regrouped well during the interval and emerged with renewed belief after the restart. Their response was rewarded when Jonah Ayunga finished from close range to restore St Mirren’s advantage after good work in the build-up.

Celtic struggled to generate momentum in the second half, with St Mirren remaining organised and disciplined throughout. As the game opened up, the Buddies took full advantage on the break, with Ayunga racing clear to score his second of the afternoon and seal the victory.
