A group of Paisley residents is developing plans to turn a long-standing gap site in the town’s west end into a new community garden.
Paisley West & Central Community Council (PWCCC) has shared its first design ideas for transforming the site at 22 Lady Lane into a greener community space for local residents.
The early proposals include community growing areas, planting to encourage biodiversity, informal play space, seating, public art and a small flexible area for local activities.
The community council said the designs are at an early stage and is asking local people to help shape the project by sharing their views.
John Cairns, Vice Chair of Paisley West & Central Community Council, said: “22 Lady Lane has huge potential. We want to turn this long-neglected gap site into a positive, welcoming place that brings more greenery, nature, activity and local pride to this part of Paisley.
“These are early ideas rather than final plans. We are keen to hear what local people like, what concerns they may have, and which features they feel would make the space most useful for the community.
“We hope the project becomes a lasting community space for everyone. Making sure it’s inclusive and welcoming is our top priority.”
Paisley West & Central Community Council is developing the project with support from Paisley Housing Association, TGP Landscape Architects and other local partners.
The project has also received support from Renfrewshire Council and the Royal Society of Edinburgh through their Sustainable Communities and Catalyst Funds.
