Renfrew’s Robertson Park will once again host some of Scotland’s top piping talent when the Renfrew Pipe Band Competition returns on Saturday, 18th July. The free event will run from 10am and will include a full day of family entertainment.

Visitors can enjoy performances from pipe bands competing across a range of grades, with judging carried out by the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association. There will also be children’s activities, inflatables and stalls from local traders.

The March Past is expected to take place at around 5.30pm, followed by the prize-giving with this year’s Chieftain, Carol MacDonald.

Carol MacDonald said: “I’m honoured to have been asked to be Chieftain at the Renfrew Pipe Band Competition this year and I’m really looking forward to a great day showcasing the skill and passion that defines our beloved pipe band community.

“As a local lass who has lived and loved Renfrew all my life, this town holds a special place in my heart. Events like the Pipe Band Competition really bring our community together and I hope the Renfrew residents can come out in force to show support for all the competitors, including those travelling to Renfrew from further afield.”

There will be no public parking at Robertson Park during the event. Free parking will be available at St James Primary School, Brown Street, around a five-minute walk from the park.

The event can also be reached by public transport, with bus stops on Inchinnan Road and Paisley Road. McGill’s operates a number of services through Renfrew.
