A man has been arrested on suspicion of stealing charity collection tins from local shops in Paisley.
Recently, Police officers have received a number of reports regarding the theft of charity collection tins from shop premises throughout the Paisley Town Centre area and pickpocketing.
Police confirmed that after extensive enquires officers identified a 39-year-old male suspect. The male was arrested and a report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal, he has been remanded in custody awaiting trial.
Inspector Tracy Harkins based in the town said: “Theft in itself is a serious crime but to steal from local charities and vulnerable residents is a despicable act, I am delighted that through thorough investigations and the vigilance of officers the suspect male was identified and arrested.”
