A new contract has been awarded to deliver assisted travel services at Glasgow Airport.

ABM will provide Passenger Reduced Mobility (PRM) services, helping passengers who need extra support move through the airport safely and with dignity.

The deal is worth millions of pounds. It runs for an initial three years, with the option to extend by a further two years.

Around 150 staff will deliver the service across AGS Airports, which includes Glasgow Airport. The new contract began on 1st April.

The company said its bid focused on strong disability awareness training and new technology. This includes systems to track wheelchairs and manage services in real time.

AGS Airports says demand for assisted travel is rising. Passenger numbers needing support have increased by more than 20% year on year.

Ronald Leitch, Chief Operating Officer at AGS Airports, said the aim is to make every journey “welcoming, dignified, and seamless”.

He added the airport continues to invest in training, infrastructure and partnerships to improve services.

Kelly Parish, Vice President for Transport and Aviation UK at ABM, said winning the contract shows “trust in our ability to deliver innovation-led services at scale”.

She said the focus now will be on a smooth transition and improving the passenger experience.

ABM employs around 15,000 people across the UK and Ireland and works across airports and transport networks.
