Candidates contesting the Paisley constituency are making their final push ahead of polling day on Thursday 7th May 2026.

The main contest is expected to be between sitting SNP MSP George Adam and Scottish Labour MSP Neil Bibby.

George Adam, who has held the seat since 2011, has been focusing on local issues and delivery, highlighting community events and policy pledges including childcare support, a GP walk-in centre and breakfast clubs. His campaign has centred on continuity and local representation.

Neil Bibby has been pushing a message of change, criticising the SNP’s record on the NHS, education and housing, and urging voters to back Labour to “get the basics right”.

Scottish Liberal Democrat candidate James Kenyon, a human rights solicitor who has lived in Paisley for two years, says he wants to bring a focus on accountability and evidence-based decision making to Holyrood.

Reform UK candidate Alec Leishman is an elected Renfrewshire councillor for Ward 12, covering Erskine and Inchinnan, and serves as the party’s group leader at Renfrewshire Council. His campaign priorities include lower taxes, opposition to Net Zero measures he says increase bills, support for free speech and backing for local businesses.

Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party candidate Satbir Gill has a background in science and community work, and has been involved in local charities and organisations supporting vulnerable groups.

Scottish Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition candidate Sinead Daly works at the University of the West of Scotland in Paisley and previously worked in violence against women services. She said she is standing due to concerns over pay, rising living costs and pressure on the NHS and public services, calling for stronger support for working people.

Freedom Alliance candidate Mark Turnbull said he has stood in multiple recent elections and is campaigning on issues including opposition to lockdown measures, low emission zones and digital identification, as well as improving transport links and supporting local businesses.

Independent candidate William Wallace said he is standing as a local father of five who wants to see improvements in services, education and support for businesses. He said he is focused on delivering results for the community rather than party politics.

With polling day approaching, voters will choose between candidates from across the political spectrum as they decide who will represent Paisley at Holyrood.
