Taylor Wimpey West Scotland has secured planning approval for its final development of new homes within the Dargavel Village masterplan in Bishopton.
Renfrewshire Council has approved the housebuilder’s Approval of Matters Specified in Conditions (AMSC) application for land off Arrochar Drive, paving the way for 315 new homes to be built as part of the expanding community.
The development will include 257 homes from Taylor Wimpey’s national range and 58 properties from its Caledonian Collection, offering a mix of three, four and five-bedroom houses aimed at first-time buyers, families and other homeowners.
Subject to final technical permissions being agreed, construction is expected to begin in the coming months. The plans include detached and semi-detached homes, air source heat pumps in every property, biodiversity measures such as hedgehog highways, bug hotels, bird boxes and bee bricks, as well as new footpath links connecting the development to the wider Dargavel Village community.
The site will also benefit from access to the recently opened 45-acre Central Park, the village centre, Bishopton railway station and the new Bishopton M8 motorway junction.
Martin Findlay, Technical Director at Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: “We are delighted that our AMSC application has been approved, marking an important milestone and reflecting over 15 years of commitment to this new and vibrant Renfrewshire community since the first Planning Permission in Principle was granted in 2011.
“We are incredibly proud of our key role in delivering the Dargavel Village masterplan.
“This final development will complete our contribution with a well-connected, sustainable community that provides high-quality new homes while enhancing the local environment and supporting long-term growth.”
The approval marks the final phase of Taylor Wimpey’s involvement in the long-running Dargavel Village development, which has transformed the former Royal Ordnance Factory site into one of Scotland’s largest new communities.
