Renfrew FC have spoken of their pride after securing promotion to the new Lowland League West for the 2026/27 season.
The club confirmed their place following Saturday’s 4-2 win over Johnstone Burgh at New Western Park, sealing a second successive promotion.
In a statement released after the final match of the season, a Renfrew FC spokesperson said: “It’s been quite the season and the hard work behind the scenes and on the pitch has paid off with our second consecutive promotion.
“Well done to all the other sides who also go up, and commiserations to the clubs who just fell short. It’s been a very competitive league this year.”
The club also thanked sponsors and supporters for their backing throughout the campaign.
A separate statement from club president John Gilmour highlighted the progress made across the whole club structure.
He said: “Now that the season has concluded, I would like to say how proud we are with the achievement of our senior team in qualifying for the Lowland League West.
“Over the last number of years, we have progressed from winning the WOSFL 2nd Division to being promoted to the Premier Division and now to the Lowland League with a Strathclyde Cup win in there also. As a club we are moving forward in all areas.”
Gilmour also praised the club’s women’s and youth sections.
He said: “Our affiliated Ladies team winning the SWFL Championship with the Ladies reserve team also winning their league. The strides which they are making is phenomenal.
“Our under 20s development team going well with our affiliated youth teams going from strength to strength.”
The president thanked coaches, volunteers, parents, supporters and sponsors for their continued support during the season.
Saturday’s victory over Burgh also marked the final game for striker Scott Morton after 10 years with the club.
Morton scored in his 235th appearance for Renfrew, taking his tally to 115 goals.
The club said: “We wish Scott well for the future and thank him for all his hard work, goals, and contributions.
“As a Renfrew lad, we hope to see him back at New Western Park, where he’ll always receive a warm welcome.”
The new Lowland League West will include Renfrew, Johnstone Burgh, Auchinleck Talbot, Beith Juniors, Cumnock Juniors, Kilwinning Rangers, Largs Thistle, Pollok and Troon.
