Bus passengers across Renfrewshire will soon be paying more, as McGill’s confirms a rise in fares from Monday 11th May 2026.
The company says prices will go up by around 3% due to rising fuel and operating costs.
In the Greater Glasgow zone, which covers Renfrewshire, some of the most common tickets are going up slightly. A day saver will increase from £6.05 to £6.20, while a weekly ticket rises from £23.20 to £23.90. A four-week pass will go from £81.70 to £84.15.
Single fares are also going up by a few pence, with typical adult tickets rising by between 5p and 20p depending on the journey.
Student and child tickets are also affected. For example, a student weekly ticket in the Greater Glasgow zone will increase from £19.85 to £20.45, while a child day saver rises from £3.15 to £3.25.
McGill’s said: “Like many industries, public transport operators across the UK continue to face significant cost pressures. Rising fuel prices have had a widespread impact, not only on day-to-day operations but also across the wider supply chain, with suppliers passing on increased costs.
“Therefore, we are making a 3% fare adjustment from Monday 11 May 2026.
“This is due to continued increases in fuel and operating costs linked to the ongoing global instability.
“We have worked hard to keep fare changes to a minimum and continue to offer value for money across our network. We appreciate your understanding and continued support.”
The new prices will apply across the network from Monday 11th May.
