A man has been charged with multiple road traffic offences after police spotted an off-road style e-bike being ridden in Linwood.
Community officers were on patrol in the area on Wednesday 20th May when they saw a man riding what police described as a “Surron style” e-bike.
Police said the rider made off at speed after seeing officers.
Enquiries were later carried out and the man was positively identified, traced and charged.
“Surron style” bikes are lightweight electric off-road bikes designed to combine features of mountain bikes and motocross bikes. They are typically fitted with powerful electric motors and long-travel suspension.
Police Scotland reminded the public that off-road style bikes cannot legally be used in public places, including roads, pavements, cycle paths and parks.
Officers said the bikes can only be ridden on private land with the permission of the landowner.
