Drivers have been warned to slow down after police carried out speed enforcement checks on country roads around Linwood, Houston and Brookfield following complaints from local residents.

Officers from Renfrewshire Community Policing Team conducted the operation in response to concerns about speeding in the area.

During the checks, one driver was issued with a conditional offer of a fixed penalty. Several other motorists were stopped and given warnings about their speed.

Police are reminding drivers to be aware of speed limits on rural roads and to adjust their driving to suit road and weather conditions.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Following residents’ complaints regarding speeding on country roads around Linwood, Houston and Brookfield, officers from Renfrewshire Community Policing Team carried out speed enforcement in the area.

“One driver was issued with a conditional offer of a fixed penalty, whilst several other drivers were stopped and given appropriate warnings regarding their speed.

“Please ensure you are aware of and comply with the speed limits on our country roads. Driving at a safe and legal speed helps keep everyone in our communities safe.”
